On Saturday 13th June, more than 800 local supporters took to the streets of Chichester for the annual St Wilfrid’s Moonlight Walk – a memorable evening that raises vital funds to support end-of-life care across the local community.

The event began at 6pm at Chichester College, where walkers enjoyed uplifting performances from Encore Choir, followed by the Sussex Steel Band and an energetic warm-up led by Well Fit. Event sponsor Henry Adams helped keep participants fuelled with snacks and added a touch of sparkle with a glitter station.

At 8pm, walkers set off from the college, splitting at Lavant to complete either the five- or ten-mile route. Along the way, participants passed the Guildhall and Bishop’s Palace Gardens, which were beautifully illuminated for the occasion thanks to the creative vision and support of Purple Lighting.

The Guildhall itself was lit by candlelight, providing a poignant space for reflection. Walkers were invited to write messages to loved ones and hang them on the Memory Arch, creating a touching tribute during the evening’s journey.

Before the walk began, St Wilfrid’s Chief Executive, Lois Howell, thanked supporters for coming together to support the Hospice. She highlighted that the Hospice’s annual running costs were over £10.5 million and that, as a charity, it relies heavily on donations to continue providing free, expert medical and emotional care to people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as support for their families and friends.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of those who walked, donated and volunteered, the Hospice is already well on its way to reaching its £145,000 fundraising target. This has been boosted once again by a local anonymous donor, who pledged to match the first £50,000 raised.

Walkers have until Monday 27th July to submit their sponsorship money, with the final fundraising total set to be announced later this summer.

Anyone wishing to make a donation can still do so via the St Wilfrid’s JustGiving page: http://www.justgiving.com/campaign/moonlightwalk26

A huge thank you goes to all the walkers, volunteers, marshals and supporters who made the event possible, and to our brilliant sponsor, Henry Adams. The Moonlight Walk simply could not take place without the dedication, generosity and support of everyone involved.
