Are you an IT professional who enjoys a varied workload? Would you find it rewarding to provide IT support to two local charities and make a difference when it matters most? Then our IT Support Manager role might be for you!

We’re looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong technical background to provide exceptional IT systems support to colleagues at St Catherine’s, Crawley and St. Wilfrid’s (Chichester) hospices.

Reporting to the IT Manager at St Catherine’s, you will manage IT support teams across two hospice sites and make sure that technology solutions support all hospice departments in achieving their objectives. With great organisational skills, you will develop processes and working practices to solve varied user issues. You will also make sure infrastructure and planned works progress smoothly to maintain and improve system functionality and reliability. You will be someone who is able to work well under pressure, and who can deliver across a range of key performance indicators (KPIs). These include managing suppliers and helping to motivate colleagues to develop IT literacy.

    We have an exciting opportunity, to join our Hospice charity retail team, as Manager of our Furniture and Clearance Outlet. This is one of our largest charity shops, trading 7 days a week. It’s a busy shop serving hospice supporters and customers in the local area. 

    With a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to support you and a focus on meeting customers and operational excellence, you will be responsible for the management of the Chalcroft Lane site. The shop houses a large furniture sales floor and also showcases our clearance offer of both clothes and ‘bric a brac’, alongside a busy donation station and a customer delivery/collection operation.

    You will be customer service driven with the ability to coach, inspire and motivate your team of staff and volunteers to ensure high standards of performance, delivery of great customer service in a shop that looks good too.

    You’ll take pride in a clean, safe and efficient shop and warehouse, leading the safe movement of stock and coordinating the delivery/collection of donated items including furniture.

    You will take responsibility to optimise sales, promote Gift Aid, reduce waste and manage costs, to meet financial targets. Creativity and resourcefulness are encouraged.

    You’ll be a good communicator, representing St Wilfrid’s Hospice within the shop and local community.

    Reporting to the Director of Income Generation, this is a hands-on, physical and varied role. The hard work of the retail team helps to fund St Wilfrid’s Hospice to make a real difference to local lives.

    Experience of managing a team and a retail unit is a must, ideally including high volume stock handling. Prior experience in the charity sector an advantage but not essential.

        The successful candidate will have strong customer service and sales skills, and enjoy meeting our supporters. You will provide support to the Shop Manager in every aspect of the day-to-day running of the shop, including:

        • Welcoming customers and supporters to our shop and receiving donations as appropriate.
        • Cash handling.
        • The researching, pricing and merchandising of our donations.
        • Optimising income generation and minimising waste by ensuring our sales floor remains full stocked.
        • Maintaining the busy sales floor to an excellent standard, ensuring a clean, safe and tidy environment.
        • Ensuring that all till operations, EPOS and cash handling procedures and transactions are followed accurately and efficiently, including daily security records and Gift Aid registration.

        Manual handling and key holder responsibilities is involved in the role.

        You will be able to work independently and as part of a team, who together generate sales to fund the work of St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

          Job description

          Would you like to join a friendly, supportive team and gain experience, confidence and skills in Palliative Medicine? An opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor to join our medical team.

          St Wilfrid’s is an established and well supported hospice with 14 in-patient beds, a community service and Living Well Centre, education and bereavement services. Your clinical duties will include supporting our hospice community team and supporting our ward doctors with the care of patients on the inpatient unit. You will be involved in teaching, quality improvement and other governance activities. Support will be given towards maintaining CPD and revalidation.

          The post is available for 4 sessions per week. The post holder will be first on-call from home on a rota of 1:6, including weekends and Bank Holidays. At weekends the first on-call doctor undertakes a ward round and admissions are received.

          Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC, have a licence to practice and have a minimum of two years UK experience at SHO level, including some palliative care experience in hospital, community or hospice. The post would suit a GP/other doctor looking to extend their skills and develop an interest in Palliative Medicine, or someone with more extensive palliative care experience looking for a change.

            Job description

            Are you a proactive Maintenance Assistant with the ability to problem solve and complete cost-effective repairs in a fast paced environment? If so, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for someone to join our Maintenance team. You will assist in maintaining all aspects of the building, contents and grounds at St Wilfrid’s Hospice. In this varied role, you’ll be involved in:

            1. General monitoring and maintenance of the building internally and externally.
            2. Ensure decoration of the building is maintained to a high standard
            3. Check all equipment meets the required safety standards and is properly maintained, using external contractors where necessary
            4. Handle all daily emergency tasks as required. Ensuring unsafe equipment or systems are taken out of use and action as appropriate
            5. Make sure the main hospice and day hospice boilers and boiler rooms are clean and in good order and perform regular maintenance checks. Monitor and control the hot water and heating for both systems according to seasonal requirements.
            6. Ensure external Hospice areas are clean, tidy and safe and all guttering is kept clean and clear
            7. Check that the Day Hospice sewage system is maintained in good working order, using external contractors where necessary.
            8. Ensure that full safety and electrical tests are carried out on all recliner chairs used in the community.
            9. Carry out the regular safety checks and monitoring of plant and equipment on a weekly, monthly or other basis.
            10. Maintain accurate health & safety records.
            11. Weekly checking and monitoring of the Fire Alarm System and associated equipment.
            12. Regular checking of Emergency lighting and Panic Alarm systems as required.
            13. Routine and emergency maintenance of all plumbing and associated equipment, using external contractors as appropriate.
            14. Regular Vehicle maintenance and checks to ensure they are in a safe, road worthy condition. Ensure all annual service and MOT’s are carried.
            15. Participate in and ensure that the hospice Preventative Maintenance Programme is actioned as required.
            16. Ensure all service and maintenance records are kept up to date and in good filing order for others to access as required (including external Health Care Commission Inspectors).
