Would you be interested in using your skills to make a difference to local people in your community?

At St Wilfrid’s Hospice, we offer a wide variety of Complementary Therapies to people receiving our care, including patients, their families, and carers. These therapies provide huge benefits, such as promoting relaxation, reducing anxiety, and improve wellbeing.  Our new Living Well Centre provides the perfect space to facilitate as range of creative and therapeutic activities.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our volunteering team for a qualified, passionate, and experienced Yoga instructor. The main purpose of the role would be to facilitate seated yoga sessions to patients, on a voluntary basis.

We are ideally looking for therapist to commit to a regular weekly or fortnightly class when our Living Well Centre re-opens later this year.

Being a volunteer at St Wilfrid’s Hospice is an opportunity to have a positive impact on local people’s lives. Our existing team finds it incredibly rewarding, and we always look forward to welcoming new members to the team.

    We are looking for help in keeping our busy retail team shops in good order by carrying out general DIY maintenance and repairs as and when needed.  Plumbing/Electrics will not be permitted unless evidence of qualification is available.

    Hours of volunteering will be agreed with successful applicant(s).

    What do you need to apply?

      We are pleased to announce that we are expanding our Selsey Charity shop into the adjacent building and turning the outside yard into a vibrant market for all to enjoy!  

      Opening in July 2021 we will be offering affordable and pre-loved items for all ages, including small furniture, and look forward to extending our reach to meet more of the Selsey community, including being able to accept donations.

        Retail Volunteers

        At St Wilfrid’s we understand that your time, skills and enthusiasm are precious so we want you to get the most out of your volunteering experience with us.

        Are you working from home and looking for human interaction? Maybe you are furloughed or job seeking and need to gain a bit of confidence or need to complete your Duke of Edinburgh Award?

        Volunteering can help you achieve not only retail knowledge, but life skills, including helping to gain basic employability skills.

        East Wittering are looking for someone to help sort donations, couple of hours a week (between hours 11am to 1pm) on either a Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday.  Again get in touch if you’d like to offer your help, we would love to hear from you!

        e-Commerce Volunteers

        Are you free on a Tuesday or maybe a Thursday afternoon?  

        if you enjoy selling items online this is the perfect volunteer role for you!

        Help our hospice raise vital funds by donating some of your spare time to help us sell donated items on eBay. Our team is based in Chichester, Terminus Road and volunteers are working together in an environment that complies with social distancing guidelines.

        This is an excellent opportunity if you would like to gain experience in eCommerce or share your specialist knowledge about pretty much anything. We receive a wide range of donations and therefore we need a diverse group of volunteers to help us get the best value for each item.

        Volunteering for the hospice is also an excellent way to make new friends, have fun and build a sense of belonging. You’ll hear some amazing stories behind the items that have been generously donated to us.

        What do our existing volunteers say about their experience?

        “It’s a lovely way of meeting people in the local community, a great way of raising money and recycling goods”

        We have various opportunities, which include:

        • Researching the value of donated items and setting prices
        • Taking photos of items
        • Listing items for sale on eBay
        • Picking and packing sold items

        What do you need to apply?

        • Basic computer, internet, and photography skills
        • Experience with selling on eBay or other marketplaces (Depop, Amazon, Etsy, etc.) is desirable but not essential. Training can be provided
        • A positive attitude and enjoy working both in a team and independently
        • A willingness to commit to at least half a day a week
        • The desire to learn new skills or develop existing ones
        • Honesty, integrity, commitment and reliability

        What can you expect from us?

        You can expect to be part of a very friendly team of volunteers who take pride in selling our most valuable donations online. The team is led by our eCommerce Manager, Daniel, who will support you from the start and provide an open environment where you will be able to leave your mark. Our office is based at Terminus Road, Chichester and parking is available on site.  You will join a very friendly team of existing volunteers and staff at our Furniture & Distribution Centre, Terminus Road.

          Job description

          The Coffee Shop at St Wilfrid’s Hospice has re-opened serving a selection of homemade sandwiches, cakes, scones and other treats!

          Join our great Hospitality team and help them make a success of this wonderful facility which is open to patients, relatives, visitors, staff and volunteers.

          The Coffee Shop is open Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 2pm with a view to expand opening times eventually to 7 days a week 11am-3pm.

          We are looking for volunteers who are willing to be flexible and adaptable as we re-launch this facility.  Shift times will be 10.15am to 2.15pm, either regularly (weekly or fortnightly) or on an ad-hoc basis (note when we increase opening hours two shift times will be implemented: 9.45am to 1pm and 12.30pm to 3.15pm).

          Full training and support will be provided.

            Job description

            We are looking for a permanent Shop Manager for our Charity Shop in Bognor Queensway. Our Queensway Shop offers unique treasures plus high volume at low prices.

            As the successful applicant you will love meeting our customers & supporters in the local community. You will lead a team of staff and engage volunteers to help develop our retail experience. Through this work we generate vital income for our Hospice by meeting the shop’s sales targets plus our strategic and operational goals.

            This is a hands-on role, involving manual handling, are you creative and adaptable, with the ability to plan, prioritise, delegate and take responsibility for the shop. Are you IT competent and have strong communication skills, as you will be required to collaborate with colleagues across the Hospice and in the community.

            Reporting to the Retail Area Sales & Development Manager you should have experience managing a shop, preferably in the charity sector.
