The Rene & Ghislaine of Paris Healing Foundation
Mr Rene Alfred Charles Elton, (1926‐2020) was for decades a highly successful chiropractor operating in Purley, England.
In 2016 he set up the Rene & Ghislaine of Paris Healing Foundation to support local people suffering with disease and pain through various therapeutic methods. To this day, the Foundation continues to support organisations using complementary therapies and aiding end of life care, including St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
Rene served as a British Lieutenant attached to the Indian Army until India’s partition in 1947. From there, he was posted to Paris, where his correspondent fiancée Ghislaine lived and to whom he later married. Due to injuries sustained throughout his army career Rene lost the use of his voice box but, following the intervention of a chiropractor, remarkably he regained his ability to speak and from that point on sought to understand and harness the body’s innate ability to heal itself, gaining Chiropractic qualifications in the USA.
Following his retirement, Rene went on to practice complementary therapy techniques, bringing relief to a broad following of patients. He believed very strongly in the great role to be played by complementary therapies, in conjunction with conventional medicinal practices. Rene found happiness in continuing to help patients, changing lives with spiritual as well as physical healing, and wished for more people to be able to access complementary therapies, such as those offered by St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
