We have events to suit everyone’s needs, from marathons to half-marathons, to bigger or smaller running events, you can find a run that suits you. Choose your favourite running event, fill out the registration form and our Fundraising team will get in touch with you! Why take part in a running event?

Running events are a fabulous way to get active while supporting a cause close to your heart. If you want to show your support for a local charity, running anything from a marathon to a 5km, could be the perfect way of combining fundraising for St Wilfrid’s and setting yourself a challenge.

How to take part in a running event?

Check out our running events here, and choose from a range of different challenges, including an international marathon!

You can take part in a running event in two ways: either by securing a place with your chosen charity (and therefore, fundraising for them at the same time) or by getting your own place through a Public Ballot. Either way, you could choose to run for St Wilfrid’s and fundraise to support us care for patients in your local community.

Charity Places
If you are interested in making a BIG difference and supporting your local community, please fill out the application form as we have a limited number of places each year. We would love you to include as much detail as possible in your fundraising plans – we recommend at least three fundraising ideas to help you reach your target. The more we know about you, the better! If successful, our dedicated Fundraising team will let you know by the end of October 2024 so you can create a Just Giving page linked to ours, and start preparing for the big day!

Official Ballot and Own Place runners
As our charity place entries are limited, we highly recommend you apply for a public ballot to ensure you can take part in your chosen running event. Even better, if you get a public ballot, you can still run in support of St Wilfrid’s Hospice and raise as much money as you can.

What you can expect from us:

  • A personalised St Wilfrid’s technical running top to wear on race day
  • Support throughout your fundraising journey from a dedicated member of the fundraising team
  • Team meet-ups and training tips from a Professional run coach

What your support means to us:

Your support could help fund expert end-of-life care provided in your local hospice.
While getting active, you are also creating awareness for an important cause, and by choosing to take part in a running event and fundraising for your local hospice, you are making a huge difference to local lives. Your support will help us provide expert end-of-life care to those in need.

could pay for patient transport for a week, allowing patients to visit the Hospice for treatment, rehabilitation, and complementary therapies
could pay for the costs of caring for a patient on our Ward for a day
could help pay for a syringe driver to give continuous, effective pain relief medicine to a patient to manage their symptoms
