What is the Moonlight Walk?
The Moonlight Walk is a charity in-memory walk around Chichester. Starting at Chichester College, walkers will take on either a 5, 10 or 20 mile walk in aid of St Wilfrid’s, your local charity hospice.
The walk takes you around Chichester and includes a beautiful stop at the Guildhall in Priory Park where you can reflect and hang a memory tag on our memory archway. Walkers will also be treated to spectacular lights under the moonlight at Bishop’s Palace Gardens.
The 20 mile walk is brand new for 2027, in celebration of the Hospice’s 40th anniversary.
By fundraising for this event, you will help fund the vital care and compassion that St Wilfrid’s Hospice provides to people in the local community with life-limiting illnesses. Your ticket covers the cost of your t-shirt and event keepsake, meaning the money you fundraise goes directly towars our hospice services.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your ticket includes your entry to the event, your t-shirt and event keepsake for completing the walk. This means that every pound you fundraise will go towards our expert palliative and end-of-life care services.
We ask that all walkers try to fundraise a suggested minimum of £100, which could help to fund two days of patient tranpsot, allowing local people with a life limiting or terminal illness to visit the Hospice and receive support. You can start your JustGiving page here.
Yes, you are welcome to sign up on the night. Please be aware that it will be more expensive, and your choice of t-shirt size may not be available.
There is free parking available on site at Chichester College.
Please bring a water bottle, a comfortable pair of walking shoes, a backpack to carry your possessions, snacks, a torch and a charged up mobile phone in case of emergencies. Don’t forget to pack warm/wet weather clothing just in case of a rainy evening.
Your ticket registration helps cover the cost of the event, and we do ask that walkers fundraise as much as they can for their walk. We suggest £100. A generous, local sponsor has pledged to match fund the first £50,000 of fundraising, meaning your fundraising total could be doubled! You can create a JustGiving page here.
We anticipate the walk will take around two hours for the 5 mile walk, four hours for the 10 mile walk and 7 hours for the 20 mile walk (including all the stops).
These times may vary depending on your pace and any extra stops you take along the way.
There are toilets available at the beginning of the walk, in Northgate car park, and at Priory Park.
T-shirt collection will take place from 31st May 2027. We’ll contact you by email closer to the time with all the details, including times and locations.
Except for guide and assistance dogs, we kindly ask that you leave your four-legged friends at home. Parts of the route, including Priory Park and Bishop’s Palace Gardens, do not permit dogs.
Complimentary drinks will be available at selected points along the route to help keep you refreshed. Before the walk begins, there will also be food vendors on site where you can purchase snacks and refreshments.
If you’re taking part in the 20-mile route, you can arrive from 5pm, with the walk starting at 6pm.
If you’re joining the 5-mile or 10-mile routes, arrival is from 6pm, with the walk setting off at 8pm.
Before you start, you’ll be able to enjoy our event village, complete with refreshments, T-shirt decoration stations, face glittering, and more. Please allow plenty of time to sign in and aim to arrive no later than 15 minutes before your start time.
Yes. Both the 5-mile and 10-mile routes are wheelchair accessible.
