Want to make a difference to Local Lives?

Are you an experienced Counsellor with strong leadership skills and a passion for developing and delivering exceptional services to palliative care patients and their loved ones?

We are an independent local charity based in Bosham, Chichester, offering a wide range of services to support our patients, and their loved ones, who are living with a life limiting or terminal illness.

The work we do makes a real difference to the lives of local people and we provide psychosocial services to over 300 people per year.

We’re looking for a Counsellor to work with a caseload of patients and their loved ones at the Hospice and in the community, and to lead and develop our psychosocial services, delivered by a dedicated team of employees and volunteers across counselling, social work, chaplaincy and bereavement support.

This role is pivotal in ensuring our services are designed to meet the needs of the people we serve, and high quality interventions are delivered at this crucial time in the lives of our patients and their loved ones.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Counsellor or Counselling Psychologist, registered with a relevant membership body (e.g. BACP, NCPS, UKCP) or with the HCPC.
  • Post-qualification experience of at least 4 years and 450 counselling hours
  • Experience of leading a therapeutic service.
  • Direct experience or transferable skills applicable to palliative care
  • Experience of robust service evaluation including the use of outcome measures.
  • Good understanding of a range of disciplines (counselling, social work and other therapies) and ability to bring this to life in leading a multidisciplinary team.
