Sustainable Fashion Week 2025

27th September – 5th October marks Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) 2025, uniting communities in taking action to help protect our environment through a sustainable approach to clothing.

Those behind SFW want to inspire people to reconsider what they buy, and how they wear, care and dispose of clothing – something that is close to our hearts at the Hospice.

St Wilfrid’s has 12 shops in and around the Chichester and Bognor area, which contribute towards our annual running costs of just over £10.5 million while playing an important part in our sustainability agenda.

A mission to reduce landfill

In the UK alone, approximately 350,000 tonnes of clothing waste are sent to landfill each year. Each British person throws away on average 3.1kg of textiles annually, with 1.7kg ending up in landfill*.

Our shops sell a fantastic range of quality pre-loved bric-a-brac, clothing and accessories – from retro & vintage to high street fashion. In 2024, we recycled 43 tonnes of goods, meaning they were diverted from landfill. Our partnership with specialist recycling providers ensures that, even items we can’t resell in our shops are processed responsibly.

Pre-loved clothing worthy of the catwalk

Our team of amazing retail employees and volunteers keep our shops stocked with seasonal clothing and accessories and ensure our shop windows and displays are enticing.

They also run additional events to showcase the wonders of sustainable fashion. An example of this is the upcoming Fashion Show at our Chidham store on 1st November. This is the second show that the shop has held this year, which celebrates the fabulous, stylish, and sometimes surprising outfits that can be found.

If you’d like to attend, you can get a ticket by visiting our website:

The event runs from 7pm until 9pm and includes time to look around the shop – with all purchases helping to support end-of-life care services in your community while also going some way to help to protect our environment.

If you can’t attend, but you’d like to be part of our sustainability mission, you can find information on locations and opening times of our shops here:
