The pandemic in numbers

What COVID-19 has meant for St. Wilfrid's in the last 12 months

Many people’s lives have changed and been disrupted during this time, and St Wilfrid’s Hospice work and care could not have happened without the support like yours.

For 34 years, we have been caring for and supporting those in our community who are in the last phase of their lives. This work is a privilege for our charity to carry out, however has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our work is personal, treating people who need our care and support during difficult times in their lives. Our expertise has been tested by delivering care in PPE, or via remote visits. Staffing levels have been affected by the pandemic, and our charity shops have been closed alongside fundraising events postponed and cancelled.

Through all of the challenges COVID-19 has presented, we have held onto our goal of delivering vital Hospice services, free of charge, to our local community.

Your support has allowed us to deliver a wide variety of care in this very difficult year including; caring for patients facing crisis as they have not been able to access usual healthcare services, delivering bereavement sessions for pupils and teachers in schools, creating videos and podcasts for people suffering with breathlessness, and our amazing volunteers and staff teams continue to support isolated patients with friendly phone calls. Thank you for being part of the St Wilfrid’s Hospice team. Together, we are making a difference to local lives.
