The Bosham Gallery presents The Past on Glass - an exhibition of 50 newly restored photographs from the Angela Bromley-Martin archive. These photographs bring to life exciting passages of Bosham's history since the advent of photography in 1840 - namely the village's oysters, wooden boat building and merchant trading.
The Bromley-Martin collection contains original nineteenth century prints never before published that give a unique insight into Victorian life on the south coast of England. Currently work is ongoing to conserve and digitalise the glass plates and prints which capture a generation of Bosham fishermen, coastal traders and their families working in what was once a thriving coastal port. Perhaps most touchingly are the photographs of local children playing around the Quay.
Bosham Gallery Curator, Luke Whitaker, will be donating 50% of the profit of all sales from this collection, to DREAMBUILDING - St Wilfrid's New Hospice Appeal.
