Victoria’s Story – Why fundraising is the job for me!

Meet Victoria, one of our friendly Community and Corporate Fundraisers in the fundraising team at St Wilfrid’s. We have spoken to her about why she loves being a part of #TeamStWilf, and her favourite parts about fundraising for local Hospice care.

Hi Victoria, can you tell us a little about your role at St Wilfrid’s?

My job as a Community and Corporate fundraiser is a lovely role. No two days are ever the same and I love the variety that the job provides. I work both from the office and out in local communities meeting our wonderful individual and group fundraisers and working with local companies who support the Hospice.

Why do you love working for St Wilfrid’s?

This is so easy to answer! St Wilfrid’s holds a special place in so many people’s hearts which makes my job so special and enjoyable, as I get to connect with those people on a daily basis. When you see the wonderful difference that the Hospice makes to so many local people, it’s easy to feel so passionate and motivated to want to make a difference too.

How has your job changed and evolved since you’ve been at St Wilfrid’s?

When I first started at the Hospice I worked in the fundraising team part-time, as I have a young family, and this suited me best. However, once I had settled into my role and loved it so much, I felt that I could commit to full-time hours. This was made easy by really supportive managers and a hybrid working option. Thanks to both of these I am able to be there for my children and also really enjoy my job and fulfill my role to the best of my ability.

What is the best thing about working in the fundraising team?

Where do I start! The fundraising team are all about having FUN! We work both individually and together on projects and are always on hand to help each other. We have the lovely job of helping our wonderful supporters on their fundraising journeys from start to finish, and this can be anything from running marathons and leaping out of planes, to putting on a dance show or hosting afternoon tea. We love working with everybody!

What would you say to someone who’s not sure about working for a Hospice?

The Hospice is a very special place and you can feel that as soon as you enter the building. Absolutely everyone loves being part of the Hospice family and there is just such a lovely atmosphere all the time.

The building itself is so light and we are always surrounded by beautiful flowers and welcoming faces.

If you would like to help make a difference to local lives then we are looking for a new Individual Giving and Gifts in Wills Officer to join our buzzing fundraising team!
