Volunteer story

Our Retail Volunteers

Hear from our Retail volunteers about how they feel working in the shops and being a part of that team.

Joanna

What is your experience of volunteering in the shop?

It feels different every week! Sometimes super busy and that’s lovely. Sometimes quiet and that can be lethal – I end up spending way too much money!

Why St Wilfrid’s?

My father was cared for by the Hospice during his last days.

What’s it like being part of the team?

The “team” feels quite small when you only volunteer for one AM/PM, but there’s comfort and security in working with the same crew each week and we do get opportunities to meet other volunteers.

Why would you suggest to someone they volunteer for St Wilfrid’s?

I think, particularly in Selsey, we have a number of Charity Shops, so it’s always nice to volunteer in the one you have some personal connection with or passion for. It makes for a better experience for the Volunteer.

Julie

What is your experience of volunteering in the shop?

Very Positive

Why St Wilfrid’s?

A friend of mine received end-of-life care in Woking so this was local to me when I moved to Selsey.

What’s it like being part of the team?

It’s a very friendly team and supportive of our differing talents and shortcomings.

Why would you suggest to someone they volunteer for St Wilfrid’s?

Absolutely a great organisation that supports a vast area but is ultimately part of the community both locally and in the Chichester environment.

Any other comments about volunteering:

Just do it – but if you volunteer you need to commit fully
