Meet Moonlight Walker Sharon
Sharon Nicholson has been participating in the Moonlight walk for the last 7 years.
Sharon walks each year in memory of her very dear friend who was cared for at St Wilfrid’s Hospice, and in memory of her Nan who died from Cancer.
Sharon describes the Moonlight Walk as one of the highlights of her year and enjoys every step along the way.
Her favourite part of the walk is the Memory Arch at the Guildhall in Priory Park where she always writes a message to those she remembers.
“I enjoy taking part in the walk so much, I think it gets better each year and the atmosphere is always amazing”.
Sharon is the Riding Centre Manager at Hunters Lodge and is pictured with three Horses: Porshia, Toby and Jake, dedicating the last 40 years of her life to teaching hundreds of children and adults to ride, and she is proud also to be able to provide weekly horse-riding opportunities for the disabled.

Sharon enjoys walking the Moonlight Walk with her colleagues and friends from Hunters Lodge Riding Centre, Chichester, and getting into the spirit of the event, having now collected 7 Moonlight Walk t-shirts (stating that the 2022 royal blue is her favourite).
“My brilliant team and kind customers always sponsor me and that keeps me going on the last mile when my legs are starting to ache!” .
In addition to teaching, Sharon has built a wonderful community of horse-loving children and families, from different generations!
“This place is my absolute life and I am so lucky to have taught so many people to ride. My horses mean the world to me, I love them all and am so thankful that they have bought so much joy and happiness to so many“.
A keen fundraiser too, she has also raised money for the Hospice by holding riding shows and fun Gymkhana’s (horse-riding events) which are always incredibly popular. In 2022 Sharon and the team held a horse show in memory of her dear friend who died at the Hospice, raising lots of money to make a difference to those who need it in the local community.
“It was a super day and we will be doing it every year in her memory. Everyone had so much fun, including the horses! We love supporting St Wilfrid’s Hospice and the wonderful work it does and our lovely team and customers are always so supportive of our fundraising ideas”.
Sharon and the team have already signed up for the Moonlight walk 2023!
