Discovering new skills – Jacqui’s story
I have been a volunteer at Terminus Road in the eBay team for about 6 months now. In my working life I was a nurse with St Wilfrid’s and can actually remember the Terminus site tour of a then empty locking in the early 2000s’, – they’ve done a fantastic job with Terminus Road since. The flow through the shop as a customer and now as a volunteer has always been amazing.
It has been a real eye opener figuring out the research, pricing, item photography and everything that goes into it and particular ensuring the items that haven’t sold go on to find a special place in one of our 12 shops as a preloved treasure waiting to be discovered.
The team is so supportive to one another in nurturing new skills and interests, I really found myself utterly fascinated with the history of sculpture at Goodwood. The books that came into us were a wonderful window into the beautiful art that has been nurtured by the local institution for so long.

I’ve chosen to do a Wednesday shift each week as that fits in with the rest of my life really well. It makes me feel very appreciated and has opened my eyes to a new world of retail beyond my retail therapy days! Every item I sort and person I meet just opens up the world to fresh new experiences.

I LOVE selling!
It’s very interesting and you can pick anything up!
Recently the hospice made over £1,000 from pictures that went to Henry Adams for auction.
You never know what you will find in the donations.
I love watching what items are bid for
