St Wilfrid’s Hospice Chichester responds to service-cut announcement by namesake, St Wilfrid’s Hospice Eastbourne
St Wilfrid’s Hospice Chichester is deeply saddened by the news received this morning about its namesake, St Wilfrid’s Hospice Eastbourne announcing service cuts and redundancies.
St Wilfrid’s Hospice Eastbourne has stated that funding pressures have made it necessary for them to cease their Care@Home service, which provides regular visits to patients at home for personal care. This decision has been made in order to protect the future of the hospice.
Lois Howell, Chief Executive at St Wilfrid’s Hospice Chichester said, “Our thoughts are with the St Wilfrid’s Eastbourne team as they navigate this particularly difficult time.
“We know that some of our supporters, patients and the wider public sometimes confuse us with St Wilfrid’s Eastbourne as we share the same name.
“I would like to assure our local community, which includes Chichester, Bognor and the surrounding area, that this sad news does not affect our care services.
“Funding pressures are affecting a large number of charitable hospices. At St Wilfrid’s Chichester, we make up the majority of funding we need to provide end-of-life-care to people in our community through fundraising and donations by our amazing supporters, for which we are truly grateful.”
