In November 2025, we were delighted to attend the Hospice UK National Conference in Liverpool to share our knowledge and learning with others in the hospice sector. We submitted several research excerpts including our work on asking patients ‘the Dignity Question’ to improve their care, and our Medical Director Dr Claire Magee shared our experiences of creating person-centred care for a young person.

The conference was attended by our Chief Executive Lois Howell, Medical Director Dr Claire Magee, Community Team Lead Nichola Hughes, CNS Locality Team Leader Sonia Haywood, Ward Nurse Joe Moody, CNS Locality Team Lead Sam Stannard and Speciality Physician Dr Tara Begara – who were able to share their knowledge and expertise.

The hospice movement is, in the words of MP Stephen Kinnock, Minister of State for Care and the keynote speaker at the conference, “a credit to our country and to our health service” and “British hospices are the envy of the world”. We look forward to hearing more about the government’s plans for a Modern Service Framework for palliative and end-of-life care, which was announced in November, as the crisis in funding hospices continues to deepen.
