Returns and Refunds
We want you, our customers, to be delighted with your purchase from St Wilfrid’s Hospice. Shopping with us for pre-loved treasures is affordable, sustainable, plus your purchase helps hospice patients in the community.
The majority of items we sell (except everyday and Christmas Cards) have been donated by our very kind supporters, to sell to raise funds to support our charitable work of caring for people in our community who need hospice care. This means that the items we sell are ‘sold as seen’ so please inspect your items before you buy it as we don’t offer refunds.
If you are buying furniture, you can ask us to place a reserve on the item for 24 hours while you measure up to ensure it will fit in your space.
Exchanges / Credit notes:
Fashion Items – should your item fail to fit, we will be happy to offer an exchange or credit note (valid for 90 days), within 14 days of purchase with a valid receipt / garment tickets.
In our furniture & specialist shops we will also offer a credit note, valid for 90 days, within 14 days of purchase with a valid receipt.
What if something I buy is faulty?
If you buy second-hand (or new) from any store, including charity shops, you’re covered under the Consumer Rights Act (CRA). You are covered on the following:
· broken or damaged (‘not of satisfactory quality’)
· unusable (‘not fit for purpose’)
· not what was advertised or doesn’t match the seller’s description
The CRA means items must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. So if a fault you weren’t told about occurs within the first 30 days, like a DVD from a charity shop that won’t play, or a skirt with a broken zip, you can ask for your money back.
What are my rights when I buy second-hand online, for example from an eBay shop?
Buying online gives you protection under the Consumer Contracts Regulations (CCR), which applies whether you buy new or second-hand. These regulations state that the trader must provide accurate information about the goods, clearly state any delivery charges and specify who pays the postage for returns.
You can cancel your order up to 14 days after placing it and have a further 14 days to return the items.
