FAQs

Where does the walk start and end?

The walk will start and end at the Westgate Leisure Centre in Chichester.

When does the walk happen?

On Saturday 10th September 2022. This year you can choose an entry time between 6.30pm – 8.00pm and then set off in waves with your fellow Moonlight Walkers shortly after. Please make a note of your entry time but arrive anytime to enjoy the atmosphere before you set off.

How long does the walk take?

If you choose the 5 mile walk it takes on average 2 hours to complete. If you choose the 10 mile walk it takes on average 4 hours to complete.

We have specific marshals walking at the back of the route to ensure all walkers are safe and accounted for. If you have signed up to the 10 mile walk and you are very late arriving at the 5 vs 10-mile marker, you will be asked to complete the 5-mile route to the end by event organisers/ marshals.

If I’ve signed up to the 5-mile route, can I walk the 10-mile route on the night instead?

Unfortunately not – if you are keen to walk the 10-mile route then we would ask you to register for a 10-mile walker entry time. If these are fully booked, then please get in touch with the fundraising team at fundraising@stwh.co.uk or call 01243 755827 to let us know and we will do our best to assist you.

If I’ve signed up to the 10-mile route, can I walk the 5-mile route on the night instead?

On the night if you are struggling or decide it would be better for you to walk the 5-mile route, then you are very welcome to! However, if you know well in advance that you will no longer be able to walk the 10-mile route and instead would prefer to walk 5 miles, please let us know at fundraising@stwh.co.uk or call 01243 755827, so we can move you to a 5 mile entry time.

How fit do I need to be?

The Moonlight Walk is not a race so all fitness levels are welcome, however, you need to be able to finish the walk in under 4.5 hours. We have specific marshals walking at the back of the route to ensure all walkers are safe and accounted for. If you have signed up to the 10 mile walk and you are very late arriving at the 5 vs 10-mile marker, you will be asked to complete the 5-mile route by event organisers/ marshals.

How old do I need to be to take part?

All ages are welcome to walk and take part. Everyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult who will take full responsibility for them throughout the walk. This year there is a special Youth ticket available for those aged 13-17 and Child ticket for anyone under 12.

How much are tickets and when does early bird pricing end?

This year discounted early bird entries will be available until 31st  July and priced at:

£16 for an Adult; £12 for a Youth aged 13-17; £4 for a Child under 12 (to include a t-shirt) or

Free Entry for anyone under the age of 12 if no t-shirt is required.

From 1st July early bird prices will end and adult/youth entries will increase by £1.

When does registration close?

Tickets to this event will be capped by entry time and are likely to sell out. Registration will close at midday on 7th September or earlier if all tickets are sold out. We advise booking early to avoid disappointment and securing your preferred entry time.

My friends and family have signed up to an entry time that is now fully booked, can I still join them?

We will do our best to make this possible. Please get in touch with the fundraising team at fundraising@stwh.co.uk or call 01243 755827 to see if we have space.

What time should I show up to register on the night?

You can turn up anytime to register. Please come and meet the team grab a drink or something to eat before you set off.

Can I buy my ticket on the night?

Yes there will be tickets available to buy on the night.

Can I bring my dog?

Only assistance dogs are accepted onto this walk. Thank you for understanding and leaving your doggy pals at home. You’re also welcome to register to do the Virtual event instead and take your furry friends!

Is the route wheelchair friendly?

Yes, the routes are friendly to those travelling on wheels. Some parts of the route have been adapted for this reason so for short periods you will travel along a more accessible route. These notes will be in the walkers map you will receive. Please notify the fundraising team that you are taking part, so that we can ensure you know about the adaptable changes in the route ahead of time.
