Back in May 2017 St Wilfrid’s had the pleasure of welcoming two Alpacas from Dunreyth Alpacas who are based on the outskirts of Chichester. They came to visit our patients on the Ward and in the Day Hospice.
One of our patients on the ward at the time, was Paul Jarvis, and along with his wife Katrina they were especially thrilled to see the alpacas.
Back in April 2016, Paul and Katrina had spent 3 weeks travelling in Peru. They started their journey in Lima and finished in Machu Picchu. It was an organised trip which had guides for parts, although they did get to visit various villages which were off the beaten track.
During their trip, one of the highlights was that they took a 12 hour long train ride across the country which was a particularly amazing experience. There was music and a 3 course meal which they say “Had a service which would rival the Orient Express.”
Whilst they were travelling, Katrina managed to meet up with one of her friends who now lives in Peru.
Having the Alpacas at the Hospice really reminded the couple of their trip to Peru and they were able to reminisce over some lovely memories of a special time together.
