Inca Trail Trek info evening inspires adventure at Irwin Mitchell

On Thursday 20 June over 30 people gathered at Irwin Mitchell's Chichester Office, to hear first hand the exciting day by day details of the Inca Trail Trek, now on offer from St Wilfrid's Hospice.

Martin the guide for the trek described the vistas, insider tips and wildlife in store for the trekkers who sign up. As a veteran of six Macchu Picchu treks, Martin assured everyone who had gathered that all sorts of ages and abilities have it within them to accomplish this adventure.

Alex Burch, Community Events Manager who is spearheading the St Wilfrid's trek team, then presented on the variety of ways the Hospice will support the trekkers over the total 19 month possible window of fundraising with advice, resources and even practice walks.

One slide in particular reminded everyone why supporting St Wilfrid's was so invaluable to the local community:

“In those final 6 days of her life Mum received care beyond anything we could have imagined. She was treated with love and compassion by everyone she met. They gave her massages and bubble baths. They sat with her when she was scared and gave her endless cups of tea. St Wilfrid’s allowed Mum to retain every ounce of dignity at a time when she could have lost it all.

And it wasn’t just Mum they gave this love and care too. When the hospice saw that Mum came with the horde that is our family they moved her to a larger family room so we could visit and her husband could stay. This allowed Mum to have time with us all including her much loved grandchildren. Mum found real peace in knowing that her beloved husband was able to stay over night with her. When you don’t know how much time you have left every moment feels precious.”
