Hilary's Story

I volunteered about three years ago having always loved flowers and was aware of the benefits that flowers can make to how you may feel.
I look after the flowers for the patients and all the general areas of the hospice. It is something I enjoy doing on a once a fortnight rota, which can take anything from 2-4 hours to complete. I find it rewarding to bring a ray of sunshine and splash of colour into a patient's room.
The volunteer role gives me satisfaction that I have been able to brighten not only the patient's day but also that of the relatives and visitors who come to the hospice.
