Local GP, Bernaadette Marnell, is set to have her head shaved in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice. Chichester on 1st February and is hoping to raise over £3,000.
Bernadette has also secured the services of hairdresser and Gogglebox star, Stephen Webb, to carry out the shaving on the day which is happening in the Orchard Day Centre at the Hospice in Grosvenor Road. Bernadette’s husband, Jack, is an avid Gogglebox fan and contacted Stephen via his Twitter account. Stephen messaged back “Sure, I’ll have your barnet!”
Bernadette said, “Having worked as a local GP for many years, I so appreciate all the wonderful support I and my patients have received from St. Wilfrid's Hospice. All the people I have known who have suffered from cancer have been such an inspiration to me - they are very special people! People with cancer don't have a choice in losing their hair. I DO have a choice, so it seems fitting to shave my hair as a small tribute to thank them all for the privilege of caring for them.”
Bernadette said she is terrified at the prospect of losing her hair but the main thing she is worried about is having a cold head so she has started knitting some hats in anticipation!
