Our Youngest Volunteer

Olivia became a volunteer with St Wilfrid’s Hospice when she'd just turned 16 years old.

A friend of her family used to work here so she had known about the Hospice for a while and always wanted to volunteer with us.

Olivia wants to train to become a doctor and thought that volunteering somewhere in the medical sector would be a huge benefit to her.

I love spending time with the patients and taking them teas and coffees.  I feel like I make a small difference every time I see them. When I first joined St Wilfrid’s I was very aware that I was the youngest volunteer and worried a little that I wouldn’t fit in, but the team made me feel at home straight away and I have loved every moment of it.

I would definitely recommend volunteering here to other young people considering it as it really makes you feel good and that you are doing something worthwhile.
