Our volunteers are invaluable

Volunteers help with so many things from bereavement support through to sorting donations in our shops. They are also a very important part of running our events.

One of my favorite events is the Moonlight walk and the family orientated events such as the Colour Run and last year the Bubble Rush are always so much fun.

From standing on the street corners to keep our Moonlight walkers safe, to de foaming runners at our Bubble Rush and even dispensing hot fruit punch (dressed as a snowman) at our Santa Sprint & Stroll. We have a role to suit everyone. It is always a fun experience and the events have a great atmosphere. Everyone is really supportive of each other and you can even bring along a friend to help as well!

It’s a great way to give something to a charity even if you are not able to give financially - your time and experience is just as valuable to us as your money!

One of our long standing volunteers, Vanessa, told us about why she volunteers:

Nearly five years ago my mum lost her battle with cancer, whilst she never made it to the hospice we both received wonderful support from everyone at St Wilfrid’s.  I volunteer to give something back to this charity that saw me through the hardest time of my life and whilst I don’t always have money to give I will always have time.

The events held throughout the year by St Wilfrid’s Hospice bring in around £150,000 and by being one of our event volunteers you can be a part of this!
