Exercises for the shoulders

This is the third in a set of four short videos which are designed to be helpful examples of the simple relaxation techniques and gentle exercises you can do in your own home. These exercises are aimed at helping you maintain strength and mobility and the relaxation aids breathing and helps to create calm.

St Wilfrid’s Hospice recommend you consult with your CNS or Physio team before joining in with any exercise videos to ensure they are suitable for you.

In this the third video we will be focusing on the shoulders. Please read the notes below before attempting these exercises.

These short videos are designed to be helpful examples of the simple relaxation techniques and gentle exercises you can do at home. The exercises are aimed at helping you maintain your strength and/or mobility whilst the relaxation video can aid your breathing and create calm.

St Wilfrid’s Hospice strongly recommends that you consult with your Clinical Nurse Specialist of one of the members of our Physiotherapy team before joining in with any of these exercise videos to ensure they are suitable for you.

If you experience pain during any of these exercises, stop immediately.

And don’t forget, please contact your GP if you experience any symptoms of weakness, unsteadiness, light-headedness or dizziness, chest pain or pressure, nausea, or shortness of breath. Mild soreness after exercise may be experienced after beginning a new exercise but please contact your GP if this does not improve after 2-3 days.
