'Cantabile' Charity Dinner and Auction

On Saturday 6th May, over 100 guests gathered in the stunning, private music room of Mr and Mrs Bowerman at Champs Hill, Coldwaltham.

The venue has the most beautiful gardens displaying incredible pieces of sculpture, and as the weather held, guests were able to explore these whilst enjoying drinks and canapes in true British style!

The guests then made their way inside for a four course meal created by our very own DREAMBUILDING Team and served by Nik and Sandra Westacott, owners of The Old Greenhouse, Fishbourne, and their team. This required a lot of planning and a significant amount of the day was spent peeling carrots! But it was certainly made worthwhile when so many of the guests commented on the exceptional and professional quality of the food – we know who we’ll be turning to for our future catering needs!!

Finally, Cantabile, also known as the London Quartet, rounded off the evening, delighting the audience with their varied a-capella repertoire.

The night then took a lively turn as actor, Charles Collingwood, and his alter-ego Brian Aldridge, from Radio 4's The Archers, led an auction with a multitude of incredible experiences available to bid for. He coaxed the audience to dig deeper for ‘cheers’, resulting in over £11,000 being raised in support of our new Hospice.

There was a wonderful atmosphere and a great sense of goodwill and support towards the Hospice. Amazingly we have raised over £25,000 towards our new Hospice.

Trustee and Chair of the DREAMDUILDING Committee, Lis Spence

Many thanks to all those who supported us and made ‘Cantabile’ a fantastic event, enjoyed by all!

St Wilfrid’s Hospice needed to raise at least £15.5 million to build a brand new purpose-designed Hospice – a DREAMBUILDING - to enable us to continue providing our specialist high quality care to the community. Great progress has already been made, however £3 million is still needed and we’re asking people to become DREAMBUILDERS and help raise the remainder.
