How to Help Pay for a Day in February

Kick off 2024 by helping your local community and become one of St Wilfrid’s Leap Year Legends. With Hospice running costs sitting at £26,000 per day and the cost of living increasing, your support can help provide end-of-life care for an extra day this Leap Year.

We currently care for 325 patients at any one time both in our 14-bed Ward at the Hospice and out in the community via our Community Team that offers care services at patients’ homes in our catchment area.

With the demand for our services increasing, we now receive around 83 new referrals each month – a number we expect to continue growing. More than ever, you can make a huge impact in the community and help us provide the care our patients deserve, for an extra day this February!

Ways to Help Your Local Hospice

There are plenty of ways to get involved and support your local hospice. You can make a direct donation or fundraise during a fun event.

You can also talk to your friends and family about what the Hospice means to you so they can sponsor you to get active and challenge yourself in support of St Wilfrid’s.

Or create your own Just Giving page, share it with everyone you know and support your local hospice for one more day!

Whatever you donate, every pound you raise will be doubled, up to £26,000, meaning you can double the impact!

This is What Your Donation Means to the Hospice

could provide lotions and oils for hand massage appointments for our patients.

could fund our community Hospice facility’s maintenance costs.

could help provide nourishing meals for patients in the Ward for a day.

could help fund the daily running costs for our Living Well Centre.

If direct donations are not your thing, you could shop or share the word with your loved ones and still be donating to a local cause. Use #StWilfsLegend on your social media posts, and remember, if you are one of the top fundraisers on Just Giving, you will appear on the Top Fundraisers Wall on our website!

Do a Challenge – Set yourself a challenge while helping an important cause.

Why not combine some of your New Year’s resolutions with supporting our Hospice?

From doing a marathon to raising funds through exciting challenges such as Skydiving, or inventing a whole new idea to fundraise for, you can help our patients at the same time you reach your fitness goals for the year!

Tell a Friend – Create a JustGiving page and share it with friends.

Start the New Year by engaging with your loved ones on important causes! You can donate by creating your own Pay for a Day Just Giving site connected to our Hospice page and share it with your friends and family members so they can support our Hospice too.

Go Shopping – Pop a donation at our shop tills

If you like shopping for unique pieces, consider shopping with us, helping both your local community and the environment! Our shops allow you to shop sustainably by providing you with good-quality, pre-loved items. All funds will then go to your local hospice. By buying a £27 item, you are funding a whole day of travel costs for our Clinical Nurse Specialists to visit patients at home.

During February, our shops are holding events such as Open Sundays, and pop-up sales throughout the month, including Ski Wear and Fill a Bag of Children’s Wear for £1. So, visit one of our shops during February, and pop an extra donation on your receipt at the till, to support us this Leap Year. See all the events.

Help Us Help Our Local Community

Big or small, you can make a huge impact on someone’s life at your local hospice this Leap Year and help us continue to deliver the same results for our patients.

“We received the best advice help and support on our difficult journey.”

“Anyone considering admission to this facility for a loved one should have no hesitation in accepting their care and support.”

“Dad was made to feel important and a person, not just another statistic.”
