Monday 26th & Tuesday 27th September 2022 (09.00 – 17.30) COURSE FULL


Wednesday 2nd & Thursday 3rd November 2022 (09.00 – 17.30) (due to unforeseen circumstances this has changed from October)

This is a two-day face to face course for senior clinical professionals to:-

  • Increase awareness of own verbal and non-verbal communication skills and style.
  • Increase confidence in responding to common communication challenges, such as:-

a. Information gathering and giving with time constraints.

b. Handling strong emotions (e.g. anger/distress)

c. Shared decision making.

d. Breaking bad news.

e. Initiating and sustaining end of life conversations.

f. Dealing with complaints.

g. Working with colleagues.

Key aspects of the course are:-

  • Evidenced based, originating from former nationally implemented CONNECTED ACST course.
  • Practice focused & learner centred.
  • Supportive and constructive learning environment.

The course offers expert actors and video feedback. It will be led by an accredited, national approved facilitator. Participants are expected to take part in all aspects of the course and full attendance on both days is required at our Education Centre in Chichester within easy reach of the train and bus station.

Lunch is not provided but fresh coffee and biscuits along with other refreshments throughout the day.

Appropriate covid-19 precautions will be utilised.

This course is funded by West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group and is therefore, free for those working in West Sussex, Brighton and Hove. Limited number of spaces are available and priority given to potential new facilitators.

Certificates of attendance will be issued following submission of post course questionnaires and evaluation plus two brief reflective pieces.
