The Coffee Shop at St Wilfrid’s Hospice has re-opened serving a selection of homemade sandwiches, cakes, scones and other treats!

Join our great Hospitality team and help them make a success of this wonderful facility which is open to patients, relatives, visitors, staff and volunteers.

The Coffee Shop is open Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 2pm with a view to expand opening times eventually to 7 days a week 10am-3.30pm.

We are looking for volunteers who are willing to be flexible and adaptable as we re-launch this facility.  Shift times will be 10.15am to 2.15pm, either regularly (weekly or fortnightly) or on an ad-hoc basis (note when we increase opening hours two shift times will be implemented: 9.45am to 1pm and 12.30pm to 3.45pm).

Full training and support will be provided.

      We have an exciting opportunity, to join our retail leadership team, as Manager of our Distribution Centre and Furniture Outlet. This is our largest charity shop, trading 7 days a week. It is also the hub of our distribution and logistics operation, serving our 12 Hospice shops and customers in the local area. 

      With a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to support you and a focus on service delivery and operational excellence, you will be responsible for the management of the Terminus Road site. This site includes our home furnishings sales floor, warehouse and all retail distribution operations.

      You will be customer service driven with the ability to coach, inspire and motivate. Directing both staff and volunteers to ensure high standards of performance and delivery of customer service and merchandising excellence.

      By utilising a number of channels including analysing and optimising sales, promoting Gift Aid, managing costs and working resourcefully, you will be motivated to meet financial targets. Setting realistic and achievable KPIs for your team to do the same.

      You will facilitate the efficient and safe handling and movement of stock items; taking pride in a clean, tidy, safe and efficient warehouse. Manage the collection of donated items including furniture, household items and clothes. Developing and implementing effective logistics and distribution routines to minimise waste and maximise the profit made on donated goods. You will relish finding and implementing effective solutions to operational problems as they arise.

      Working as an ambassador of St Wilfrid’s Hospice within the local community and as part of the wider Retail and Hospice team you will be an excellent communicator, who enjoys collaboration and developing relationships.

      Reporting to the Director of Voluntary Income, this is a hands-on, physical and varied role. As a valued member of the retail leadership team you will contribute to future strategy ensuring the continued success and growth of our retail hub. The hard work of the retail team helps enabling St Wilfrid’s Hospice to make a real difference to local lives.

      Experience of managing a team and a retail unit is a must, ideally including stock control and logistics. Prior experience in the charity sector an advantage but not essential.

You’ll be supporting the smooth running of the Hospice by performing front of house receptionist duties and general office and secretarial tasks. You will be the first point of contact for visitors to St Wilfrid’s Hospice, provide a professional and friendly welcome.

        This is a varied role, so your high attention to detail is vital when providing reception and switchboard cover, co-ordinating and handling daily donations including cash and gifts and carrying out administration tasks.

        Previous secretarial / administrative experience and strong IT skills, including good knowledge of Microsoft excel is essential. You’ll be an effective communicator with a pro-active approach to your work.

                With a focus on operational excellence and service delivery, you will be responsible for the day- to -day management and development of a small team of professionals within the People Team.                 The Hospice has ambitions to become an even greater place to work and to volunteer, and to engage with our communities to improve diversity and reach potential team members. The People Director will lead this process, working in collaboration internally and externally. You have excellent interpersonal skills, confidence in public speaking, and ability to maintain effective relationships with all levels of staff across the organisations.

                  We are ideally looking for therapist to commit to a regular weekly or fortnightly class when our Living Well Centre re-opens later this year.

                      e-Commerce Volunteers

                      Are you free on a Tuesday or maybe a Thursday afternoon?  

                      if you enjoy selling items online this is the perfect volunteer role for you!

                      Help our hospice raise vital funds by donating some of your spare time to help us sell donated items on eBay. Our team is based in Chichester, Terminus Road and volunteers are working together in an environment that complies with social distancing guidelines.

                      This is an excellent opportunity if you would like to gain experience in eCommerce or share your specialist knowledge about pretty much anything. We receive a wide range of donations and therefore we need a diverse group of volunteers to help us get the best value for each item.

                      Volunteering for the hospice is also an excellent way to make new friends, have fun and build a sense of belonging. You’ll hear some amazing stories behind the items that have been generously donated to us.

                      What do our existing volunteers say about their experience?

The team is led by our eCommerce Manager, Daniel, who will support you from the start and provide an open environment where you will be able to leave your mark. Our office is based at Terminus Road, Chichester and parking is available on site.  You will join a very friendly team of existing volunteers and staff at our Furniture & Distribution Centre, Terminus Road.
