St Wilfrid’s Hospice supports a community of over 80,000 households and the large majority of the care we provide takes place in the community, not the hospice.
South of the Downs we are the only provider of specialist hospice care in care homes and nursing homes and within patients’ own homes. People in the community, within the St Wilfrid’s catchment area, needing specialist end of life care would see a St Wilfrid’s Nurse, not a Macmillan Nurse.
Patients can be referred to St Wilfrid’s Hospice if they have a GP based in the surgeries from Emsworth to Arundel including Chichester and Bognor. Occasionally patients who are not in the main catchment area (north of the Downs, Langley to Rudgwick) will be accepted to receive our care if their acute care takes place at St Richard’s Hospital or their family live in the catchment area.
