Physiotherapist - (Bank)

Salary: £16.37 per hour

We are looking for experienced Physiotherapists to join our Rehabilitation team. The successful applicants will help provide individualised, specialist palliative physiotherapy to our patients at the Hospice and in the community.

JOB PURPOSE

  • To provide individualised, specialist palliative physiotherapy service to inpatients, day hospice patients, outpatients and patients in their own home
  • Works as part of the rehab team; with Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant

JOB SCOPE

  • Provides continuity of specialist palliative physiotherapy to Hospice patients

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes the St Wilfrid’s culture of excellence in patient and people care
  • Delivers a high quality physiotherapy service to patients, ensuring that care is planned following individual assessments and implemented and evaluated regularly
  • Liaises with members of the multidisciplinary team on the ward and in the community to ensure smooth working across teams
  • Works closely with the Occupational Therapist and other professionals to provide specialist advice to maintain effective service provision
  • Allocates work to the Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant in liaison with the Occupational Therapist
  • Communicates clearly and regularly with their line manager and colleagues
  • Ensures continuity of service through appropriate delegation to rehab teams
  • Contributes to reporting of progress towards meeting relevant strategic and operational goals
  • Contributes towards ensuring that the Hospice’s exposure to risk is minimised through safe practice and awareness of health and safety and infection control
  • Takes immediate action on complaints and untoward incidents and report to Lead Nurse Inpatient Service
  • Contributes to department/service to make continuous improvement
  • Is a member of the Health Professions Council and practises in accordance of their professional code
  • Liaises with colleagues in other organisations as required
  • Participates in the application of performance management
  • Ensures the maintenance of a supportive atmosphere maintaining good morale
  • Motivates and directs both staff and volunteers to ensure high standards of performance and delivery
  • Maintain a cost-effective service within agreed budget
  • Promotes research based practice and the maintenance of a supportive learning environment
  • Provides development training and support for self and others including mandatory updates
  • Treats volunteers with respect and values their contribution
  • Works within agreed hospice policies, procedures and guidelines; participates in reviewing as required and ensures staff are aware of these as relevant

KNOWLEDGE & SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS

  • Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Minimum 3 years post qualifying
  • Palliative care experience
  • Relevant post qualifying qualifications
  • Teaching and leadership
  • IT Skills
  • Driving Licence
