Major Gifts & Partnerships Officer

Salary: In the region of £22,000 per annum (pro rata)
Hours: 28 hours per week
End date: 18 March 2019

A new opportunity for an experienced fundraiser to join our team has arisen for the role of Major Gifts & Partnership Officer. Reporting to the Major Gifts and Partnership Manager the successful candidate will support raising money from charitable trusts, large scale partnerships and high net worth individuals. 

Researching potential funders the role holder will be highly motivated to identify new opportunities as well as developing existing relationships. In addition you will possess excellent communication skills to write compelling fundraising propositions to charitable trusts as part of the fundraising strategy.

Experience of broad fundraising principles is desirable; however we are looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in this field of fundraising with practical experience of organising major gift events undertaking risk assessments as well as Health & Safety and insurance requirements.  

This is an exciting time to join the Hospice as we move towards opening our new 18 bed Hospice in Bosham in Spring 2019. This major fundraising and development project has been well supported by the community who enable us to maintain the high standards of care for patients and families for which St Wilfrid’s is known.

Job Description

PURPOSE:      

To raise money for the Hospice through significant financial donations from charitable trusts and individuals and large-scale partnerships with companies.

SCOPE:

  • Develop and write compelling funding propositions to meet agreed financial targets
  • Support for Manager in development of strategy and plans
  • Research
  • Stewardship and account management of key funder relationships

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To work with line manager as needed on strategy, and take responsibility for implementation of relevant operational fundraising plans.
  • To work with colleagues internally to develop interesting and compelling funding propositions
  • To research potential funders and build relationships
  • With Manager, to develop and agree solicitation plans for securing donations and partnerships
  • To make approaches to trusts, major donors and companies, as agreed with line manager.
  • Effectively steward funder relations to ensure continued support, including providing update reports in a timely fashion.
  • To account manage corporate partnerships to ensure fundraising targets are reached.
  • To work with colleagues across fundraising and the wider organisation on corporate partnerships as needed.
  • Develops and maintains a “Wish List” of capital items required across the organisation
  • Represents the Hospice at external events
  • Where appropriate, work with Manager to investigate innovative and creative initiatives and opportunities for new and existing major gift & partnership income not currently maximised by the organisation, undertaking feasibility studies to inform future business plans.
  • As needed to provide support and guidance to ensure volunteers in the office and at any major gift fundraising activity or event are well managed and appreciated.
  • To regularly report on all activities to line manager as needed.
  • To comply with fundraising and data protection regulations and standards ensuring that risk assessments, Health & Safety and insurance requirements are in place where needed, and data is managed securely and effectively.
  • To work as a member of the Fundraising department as a whole, contributing to the development of the department’s fundraising and communications activities

  • Motivates others, including volunteers to ensure high standards of performance and delivery
  • Accesses development training and support including mandatory updates
  • Volunteers are a vital resource to St. Wilfrid’s Hospice and it is the responsibility of all staff to treat them with respect and value their contribution
  • Works within agreed Hospice policies, procedures and guidelines

KNOWLEDGE & SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS

  • Relevant fundraising qualification or experience equivalent to a degree qualification
  • Experience ( 2 years +) of fundraising from trusts, corporate and/ or major donors
  • Experience of broader fundraising disciplines is desirable
  • Full driving Licence and daily access to car
