Database Administrator

Salary: In the region of circa £22,482 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

An opportunity for Database Administrator has arisen within the Fundraising team. The Database Administrator role will lead on the development, delivery and management of the strategy for the Raiser’s Edge database across the organisation. They will be responsible for the development, performance, integrity and security of the database. They will report and work with the Individual Fundraising Manager.

This role provides the ideal candidate with a practical working environment to display their excellent numeracy computer literacy skills, processing dynamic database functions across the hospice while helping to promote a strong analysis and data security.

  • The successful candidate will be educated to an A-level or higher and have previous experience of fundraising or financial database systems. Raiser’s Edge experience is desirable; however, training can be provided. With previous experience of data entry, process validation and analysis, combined with effective interpersonal and communication skills, you can become a supportive member of the team in a friendly, inspiring and supportive working atmosphere.
  • Minimum of 2 years working with IT database systems - ideally Raiser’s Edge or minimum 3 years in a fundraising or finance environment
  • Experience and understanding of data entry, importing, process validation and analysis including segmentation, queries, exports and reporting

Takes a lead in research, segmentation development and analysis, building detailed models to predict behaviour, developing robust tests, conducting life time value, supporter profiling, attrition and other research and analysis to deliver pragmatic business benefits across the organisation.

JOB PURPOSE

  • Lead on the development, delivery and management of the strategy for the Raiser’s Edge database across the organisation
  • Responsible for the development, performance, integrity and security of the Raiser’s Edge database

JOB SCOPE

  • Overall responsibility for the Raiser’s Edge database including strategic & operational plan objectives and its use across the organisation in partnership with the Individual Fundraising Manager
  • Ensure that donations and income are accurately recorded and allocated to enable HMRC Gift Aid claims and correct tracking with Finance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, delivers and manages the operational plans for the use of Raiser’s Edge functions across the Hospice, , helping to promote a strong analysis and data security culture.
  • Provides detailed technical expertise to maximise the potential income from the Hospice donor base and to grow and develop the database of donor and other supporters through effective and targeted communications
  • Reviews, develops and implements the Hospice income and acknowledgment processes providing direct and ongoing support to Fundraising, Finance and other departments
  • Takes a lead in research, segmentation development and analysis, building detailed models to predict behaviour, developing robust tests, conducting life time value, supporter profiling, attrition and other research and analysis to deliver pragmatic business benefits across the organisation
  • Provides training and support to Raiser’s Edge users with particular emphasis on database and supporter management, data analysis, statistical and other reporting across the organisation
  • Leads development and implementation of RE User groups and one-to-one training and support to Hospice staff and volunteers in the use of Raiser’s Edge and related processes
  • Leads on the research, review and procurement of value-added services to enhance the functionality and capability of the Raiser’s Edge systems and processes, and to achieve greater efficiencies of resources throughout the organisation
  • Is responsible for ensuring all Raiser’s Edge plans, database protocols, processes, procedures and minimum standards are developed and maintained in a structured and consistent way and consistent with Hospice policies and external regulation, in conjunction with the Director of Fundraising and Communications and Individual Fundraising Manager.
  • Prepares and produces reports and data analysis as required ensuring accuracy and quality of presentation for the Fundraising Team and across the organisation
  • Researches and extracts data and formats into required lists & files for mailings and other targeted communications and direct marketing activities according to the Fundraising annual calendar, working to deadlines in a dynamic environment using excellent project/time management skills
  • Contributes to the development of annual and 3-year strategic Fundraising plans
  • Monitor budget relating to Raiser’s Edge database and develops detailed financial cost comparison models when considering procurement of additional modules or products.

KNOWLEDGE & SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS

  • Educated to an A-level degree or higher

  • Ability to support and solve technical queries and problems
