Join us at the 40th anniversary exhibition of the Sussex Watercolour Society at the Oxmarket Gallery
The Society was formed back in 1976 with the idea of creating a regional society of the same calibre as the London societies. It encouraged new and experimental work within the range of water-based media and created many varied and interesting exhibitions.
Now in its 40th year, the exhibition continues and expands on this tradition and includes an eclectic mix of contemporary and traditional paintings, completed in various water-based and mixed media with something to suit all tastes!
This year also sees the return of the popular charity painting wall where members of the Society will each produce a small square painting on the theme of 'Sussex' which will be exhibited and all sold at the same price of £50 - the artist remaining anonymous until the painting is purchased. The proceeds of the sales will come to St Wilfrid's Hospice.
The exhibition takes place at the Oxmarket Gallery, St Andrew’s Court, East Street, Chichester from the 12th to the 24th September; and on Saturday 16th September between 10.00 and 4.30 there will be a ‘meet the artists’ day when you can join the artists for a glass of wine and to talk about their work and to see some of them in action.
