Support Groups

What is a Support Group?

A number of people have generously given their time, their energy and their enthusiasm to organise fund raising events on behalf of St Wilfrid's Hospice to support the services provided by our staff. Those involved raise funds for the Hospice but of equal importance, is the loyal support they give to St Wilfrid's. They are the friends upon whom we count and could not do without.

Our 16 groups, many of which have been functioning since the Hospice opened, are based in villages and local communities around the Chichester and Bognor Regis area. They are committed to actively raise funds for the Hospice in an endless number of original and entertaining ways - coffee mornings, bridge drives, table top sales, fish and chip suppers, quizzes and concerts.

Experienced, long serving supporters are always delighted to welcome new members, with fresh ideas, to reinvigorate their groups. Together with the hard work and effort involved in such activities support groups generate enormous fun for all concerned as the photographs show.

All support groups deserve our heart-felt thanks and congratulations for all they achieve on behalf of the Hospice. During the last financial year they were responsible for the grand total of £160,000 towards our income. For this reason, it is obvious that we could not do without them but their greatest contribution is their loyal support.

Support Groups function in Arundel, Barnham, Boxgrove, Eastergate, Aldingbourne, Yapton, Bognor Regis, Bosham, Chichester, Donnington, Fishbourne, Funtington and Compton, Hunston, Lavant Valley, Middleton-on-Sea, Selsey, Sidlesham, Southbourne & Prinsted, Westbourne and Emsworth, and Witterings and District.
