Donation Centre Supervisor

Salary: £8.04 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours a week
End date: 28th April 2017

We have a full time Donation Centre Supervisor position at our Furniture Outlet & Donation Centre at Summersdale, Chichester.

This outlet trades 7 days a week and supports the other Hospice shops by sorting and distributing varied donated goods. The successful applicants will support the shop manager in the day to day running of the Donation Centre and work with the team to enhance the profile of the Hospice within the community.

JOB PURPOSE

  • Support the Shop Manager in the management of the site including donation sorting and delivery
  • Line Manager responsibility for staff and volunteers in the Donation Centre

JOB SCOPE

  • People – Direct reports -  2 Employees and 20 Volunteers

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes the St Wilfrid’s culture of excellence in people care ensuring that the shops enhance the profile of the hospice in the community
  • Ensures that customer service is delivered to a high standard in a sensitive and professional manner
  • Contributes to reporting of progress towards meeting and operational goals
  • Responsible for the day to day running of the donations and distribution activities from the Centre
  • Acts as key holder
  • Actively promotes Gift Aid and assists with implementation of processes to claim Gift Aid from donors
  • Sorts all donations received and prepare ‘saleable’ goods for delivery for each shop
  • Assists in the control of all goods received to the centre and distribution thereafter
  • Allocates the work of the donations assistants and volunteers
  • Contributes towards ensuring that the Hospice’s exposure to risk is minimised through safe practice and awareness of health and safety and infection control
  • Ensures that items for sale comply with current trading legislation
  • Ensures clothing is clean and steamed as required and ready for sale
  • Challenges the staff and volunteers to make continuous improvement
  • Communicates clearly and regularly with their Line manager and colleagues
  • Controls and monitors necessary paperwork associated with sales, collections and delivery procedures
  • Stretches and develops the capability of the team through rigorous application of performance management
  • Works as an integral part of the shops team, being supportive and sensitive to the needs of the whole team Motivates and directs both staff and volunteers to ensure high standards of performance and delivery
  • Provides development training and support for self and others including mandatory updates
  • It is the responsibility of all staff to treat volunteers with respect and value their contribution
  • Works within agreed hospice policies, procedures and guidelines. Ensure all staff and volunteers adhere to them
